How do I Become a Christian?

Experiencing God, Building People

I realize that nobody’s perfect, including me.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

I know that “Choices Have Consequences.”

“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

  • I can choose to accept the wages of my imperfect and sinful life or I can choose to accept God’s gift of eternal life in Jesus.

I must realize the God loves me.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him” (John 3:16-17).

  • I can believe in and accept God’s love and life.

I need to be honest with myself and God.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

  • The confession of sin to God is simply being honest enough to say, “God, because I am not perfect, I have sinned. Please forgive my sin. I put my faith in Jesus and His sacrifice for me on the cross.

I believe that faith makes a difference.

“But as many as received Him to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” (John 1:12)

  • By putting my faith in Jesus, I have become a child of God. Jesus has paid the penalty for my sin and given me His righteousness. “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthains 5:21

How to Pray to God

Dear Jesus,

I ask you right now to do what no one else can do, to forgive all of my sins and save my soul. I believe that you are the Son of God. I believe that you love me and died on the cross for my sins. I ask you now, to come into my life to be my Savior and Lord. I thank you for dying on the cross for me and I thank you that you rose from the dead 3 days later. I believe that from this moment forward, I am now your child, and you are now my Lord and Savior. I thank you Jesus that heaven is now my eternal home. With your strength and grace, I will follow you all the days of my life. Thank you Jesus!
